The screens for this system are stored above the opening within a small aluminum housing. Tracks running on the sides of the opening are attached to the housing and the screen rolls down locked into the tracks. The screens can be deployed or retracted at the touch of a button. It is the perfect complement to an outdoor living area and when the screens are deployed they are see through.
Single Hurricane screens used to enclose and protect patios and other outdoor living areas anywhere there is a need to protect an opening from severe weather. Our screens are installed in the tropics for hurricanes, in the desert for sand storms, and in the north for winter storms. The screen system can be built-in with new construction or retrofitted to an existing site. Storm screens are code complaint for every windzone in the world under the International Building Code and in Florida under the statewide Product Approval System. This product carries a wind speed rating over 250 MPH and is on average three times stronger than the most demanding code requirements in the highest wind zones.
The primary use of a single screen system is for hurricane protection. However, many people use the hurricane rated screens for other purposes, the most common use in warmer climates is to use the screen partially deployed as a sunshade and many oceanfront homes, restaurants, and resorts use our screens daily as a wind break. Very often our products are specified into a house during the design phase by the architect. We also work with builders, designers, and homeowners to incorporate the screens into projects underway and retrofit existing buildings.
There are many advantages of a retractable fabric shutter over other types of hurricane protection. The biggest is the convenience of a pushbutton system, it simply trumps everything else. Retractable shutters can be fabric or aluminum Fabric has many advantages over aluminum; it is see through, it does not corrode, it is not damaged from debris impacts, our fabric is stronger than aluminum and can span larger openings, and it is quiet.
Storm Protection systems can be configured in many ways with a variety of fabrics based on the needs of the project. StormWatch has the most extensive product approvals of any manufacturer and ability to be more flexible than others to fulfill the requirements of the customer and meet the engineering requirements for code compliance. The units can be motorized, or manually operated. The units can also be fully integrated into a home automation system – how we configure the screens depends on the needs of the customer.
