Retractable insect and shade screens protect outdoor living areas, then disappear when not needed. Unique to StormWatch's insect and shade screens is our end retention system. Our insect and shade product development trickled down from our hurricane screens. We developed our own unique methods that do away with weak and troublesome zipper based end retention screens, the result is a much more robust screen that can be used in windy conditions where other zipper screens must be retracted.
Insect and shade screens are typically used to enclose patio areas. Higher density sunshades are also used on the exteriors of large windows to reduce solar heat gain, because blocking the sun before it enters the building is the most effective way to control intense sun light and reduce cooling costs. This is an essential feature for large west facing windows in Florida
Just about everyone with an outdoor patio has an insect problem that limits how they can use that space. Very often our products are specified into a house during the design phase by the architect. We also work with builders, designers, and homeowners to incorporate the screens into projects underway and retrofit existing buildings.
Choosing between a sunshade or an insect screen is really dependent on what the site needs are. The insect screens are available in two densities, a regular screen, and a high density one that blocks smaller insects such as no-see-ums. While StormWatch stocks the most common shade screen colors and densities, we also manufacture screens on a custom basis. Please inquire with your project requirements.
