The only retractable product to offer both a hurricane shutter and a separate insect screen in a single unit. The hurricane screen has the same features and benefits of our single screen systems and the insect screen has the same features and benefits of our insect screen. The screens within this very unique system are individually controlled and can be deployed or retracted at the touch of a button. It is the perfect complement to an outdoor living area to turn it into a true year round extension of your living space.
Storm+ systems are used to enclose and protect patios and other outdoor living areas anywhere there is a need to protect an opening from both weather and insects. The screen system can be built-in with new construction or retrofitted to an existing site. Storm+ screens are code complaint for every windzone in the world under the International Building Code and in Florida under the statewide Product Approval System. This product carries a wind speed rating over 250 MPH and is on average three times stronger than the most demanding code requirements in the highest wind zones.
People use a two screen system because a single screen system simply can’t offer the level of hurricane protection required for code compliance and still offer the lifestyle enhancing benefits of an insect screen. Storm+ screens are specified into a house during the design phase by the architect. We also work with builders, designers, and homeowners to incorporate the screens into projects underway and retrofit existing buildings.
There isn’t a single screen that can do every job well. A hurricane screen is required by the building code to be effectively non-porous, its job is to stop hurricane force winds, rain and missile impacts, and it has a very tight weave. An insect screen is the opposite. It has a very open weave because its job is to stop insects, and maximize airflow for comfort and liveability. When a hurricane barrier is used as an insect screen, no insects will get through, but no air will either and the protected area becomes an uncomfortable place to be. The Storm+ system fixes this problem by using two screens, there is nothing else like it and it is the best screen system in the market.
Storm+ systems can be configured in many ways. Some customers don’t need a hurricane barrier and choose a sunshade and insect screen combination, a clear vinyl screen and sunshade is also a common combination for restaurant patios. The units can be motorized, or manually operated. The units can also be fully integrated into a home automation system – how we configure the screens depends on the needs of the customer.

Customer Reviews & Testimonials
"While we (Hurricane Proof) have long been an exclusive supporter of StormWatch's mesh hurricane products, we are excited to now offer the industry's only dual purpose rolldown shutter and screen. Our clients now have the convenience of a permanently operable rolling screen for insect protection and shade, integrated with an incredibly strong rolling mesh hurricane protection system."
-Chris Carr Hurricane Proof (Delray Beach, FL) "This is a smart design. It used to be that you could only have a roll-up bug screen or a roll-up hurricane shutter, but not both because there is no room. The dual screen solves the problem of where to put the second roll-up by integrating them into a single unit. It's what I've been looking for and StormWatch delivered." -Ed, Long Island NY Product Overview
